INNHS Forest Park is Region's Best

LAOAG CITY: Ilocos Norte National High School (INNHS) has once again proven its supremacy in adherence to Department of Education's (DepED) promotion of awareness and concern for the environment, as the school recently bagged the Best School Forest Park against secondary schools of Region I.

Evaluators from DepED Regional Office, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Plant and Industry (DA-BPI) informed Mrs. Isabel Sison-Sandi, INNHS Secondary School Principal IV, that the school will be representing Region I in the national level of competition.

"This is another honor for our school. The saying 'United We Stand. Divided We Fall' has once again proven its wisdom. We offer this laurel to the students, teachers, parents, Alumni groups and the INNHS stakeholders who collaborated in the realization of putting up the INNHS School Forest Park," Mrs. Sandi stressed in an interview.

The INNHS Forest Park, once a barren land, is now an oasis for those looking for a serene, quiet spot of nature. Besides from its collection of flora and fauna, the park prides itself with a majestic falls, and a mini-library. Moreover, the park is used for private functions and family gatherings.

Mrs. Corazon M. Dalo, INNHS Forest Park Project Coordinator with Mrs. Sandi, spearheaded the tree-planting, tree-growing and tree-caring activities; and in the promotion and raising of level of consciousness of high school students on the importance of preserving and protecting the environment for the future generation.

The national competition is a project of the Luntiang Pilipinas Foundation, Inc. - the National Urban Forestry Program of Sen. Loren Legarda, in coordination with the DepEd and in cooperation with DENR and (DA-BPI).

Regional winners will be given a computer laboratory (20-units of brand-new computers) while a computer laboratory and a new school building awaits the public high school that will top the National Search for Best School Forest Park.
